Handwara 09 February (KNO) : Violent protests continued till late night in entire Langate area against dragging and humiliating Er. Rasheed and slapping PSA on three youth namely Aashiq Hussain Ganaie, Ab. Rashid Khan and Irshad Ahmad Parra. Besides Er. Rasheed several including women got injured and many suffered pellet injuries including a lady at Ganapora Langate when police used force and pellet guns to disperse the mob. Situation remained tense late till night in main Langate town, Kralgund, Supernaghama, Unisoo and Qalamabad where people were protesting against highhandedness of police. However Er. Rasheed was released later in the night after receiving assurance from Chief Minister that the PSA will be revoked soon against the three youth and till the order of revocation the three youth will be shifted to nearby sub-jail from Kotbhalwal where they have been lodged. After his release from police station Handwara Er. Rasheed thanked people of Langate for their peaceful resentment against the highhandedness of police and said that we will never scum to the atrocities and inhuman attitude of local police, who are unfortunately trying to prove themselves more loyal than the king. Er. Rasheed while addressing a gathering in Handwara after his release later in the night appealed the cops of J&K police not to forget that they are the sons of the soil and some vested elements within the top ranks are trying to involve them in infighting with their own people. Er Rasheed reminded Mehooba Mufti of her announcement granting amnesty to stone palters and challenged her to prove him wrong for the reason that even withdrawing FIR has become an industry for many in the entire Kashmir.
